About Matt
Matt Canzer is the founder of Butterfly Legal and practises through Matt Canzer Law, a law firm registered with the Law Society of British Columbia. He earned his J.D. from the University of British Columbia's Peter A. Allard School of Law in 2008 and was called to the British Columbia bar in 2009. He began his career as litigation counsel with the Department of Justice Canada, handling civil claims for the federal government, and in 2014 moved to Kelowna to practise personal injury litigation and serve as a local agent for the Public Prosecution Service of Canada. He launched a solo law practice in 2020 and, by 2023, developed it into Butterfly Legal, a structured online platform focused on BC Small Claims Court. He is a member of the Law Society of British Columbia, the Canadian Bar Association, and the Trial Lawyers Association of BC, and serves on the Board of Directors of the Legal Coaches Association as a Certified Legal Coach.
