Martha Metzner practises family law and opened her own firm, Martha D. Metzner Law Corporation, in the summer of 2009 after practising with a Langley firm. She studied law at the University of British Columbia's Faculty of Law, having come to law school as a mature student after an earlier career as a top-producing realtor in Vancouver's Kerrisdale-Shaughnessy area. She is a past president of the Fraser Valley Bar Association, a member in good standing of the Law Society of British Columbia, and has presented at the Women's Law Forum. She has represented herself in protracted legal proceedings, including two successful applications before the Supreme Court of Canada. Martha has lived in British Columbia since 1972 and moved to Langley from West Vancouver in 2003, and she has been involved in the community through the board of research and ethics at Kwantlen Polytechnic University, pro bono work for the Langley Salvation Army, and the board of the Fort Langley Community Association.
