About Marlene

Marlene VanderSpek is a family law lawyer practising in the Niagara Region who represents clients in separation and divorce matters, including property division, support, custody, and access, and assists with the preparation of separation and cohabitation agreements. Although the bulk of her practice is litigation-based, she also uses alternative dispute resolution methods to negotiate family law disputes. Marlene represents children as a member of the Office of the Children's Lawyer panel and is involved with the St. Catharines family bar, the Collaborative Family Law Group in Niagara, and the Family Law Group of the Lincoln County Law Association. She obtained her common and civil law degrees from McGill University in Montreal, where she served as Director of Human Resources for the McGill Legal Information Clinic and served clients in both French and English. Before law school, she earned an Honours Degree in French and International Relations at Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
