About Maria

Maria Fernandes is the founder of Fernandes Law Office P.C., which she opened in Windsor, Ontario, on March 31, 2000. She has practised for more than 25 years in family law and immigration law, handling matters from prenuptial agreements through divorce, and has appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice, the Superior Court of Justice, and the Ontario Court of Appeal. She began her career as a nurse, earning a Bachelor of Nursing from the University of Windsor in 1993 and working at Hotel Dieu Hospital in Windsor and several hospitals in Michigan, before also earning a teaching degree from the University of Windsor. She later completed her Bachelor of Law degree at the University of Windsor Law School and was called to the Ontario bar in February 2000.
