About Marc

Marc Bellemare founded Bellemare Avocats and has practised social law in Quebec for more than 40 years. Bellemare earned a law degree from the Université de Montréal in 1978 and was sworn in to the Barreau du Québec in 1979. In the early 1980s, Bellemare became the first lawyer in Quebec to devote an entire practice to representing victims under public compensation schemes, and the firm's work today centers on claims before the SAAQ, CNESST and IVAC, as well as disability insurance disputes. Bellemare has served on several Barreau du Québec committees, including those on automobile insurance and workplace health and safety, and was appointed Quebec's Minister of Justice and Attorney General in 2003. In 2009 Bellemare received the Advocatus Emeritus (Ad. E.) distinction from the Barreau du Québec, and in 2012 was awarded the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal for contributions to Canadian society.
