About Linda

Linda Locke, KC, is USCLAS's managing lawyer and executive director. A member of the Sto:lo Nation from the Fraser Valley, she began her career as a social worker and later as a probation officer, and became interested in law after working as a court worker with the Elizabeth Fry Society. She attended the law program at Queen's University in 1980 and went on to become the first Aboriginal woman in British Columbia appointed a Queen's Counsel. She oversees USCLAS's legal aid, advocacy, and community-justice programs, and carries the name Siyamstawel, meaning 'Bringer of Light.'
