Liam Cooper was born in Calgary and raised in Southern BC before moving to Prince George in 2012 and beginning his articles the following year. He holds undergraduate degrees from the University of California, Santa Cruz and the University of Washington, along with a JD from the University of Victoria, and is a dual Canada-US citizen. Before joining Third Avenue Law, he worked with the BC First Nations Justice Council, Donald J. McKay Law Corporation in Victoria, and the Public Prosecution Service of Canada. His practice centres on criminal defence and on representation before administrative tribunals such as the BC Mental Health Review Board, Traffic Court, and the Canada Parole Board, and he has handled charges ranging from minor theft to murder across Northern BC courthouses. He co-founded the Association of Legal Aid Lawyers and received the Law Society of BC's 2019 award for Leadership in Legal Aid.
