About Lai-King

Lai-King Hum founded Hum Law in 2014 after building her career as an employment law practitioner at top-tier national firms in Ontario and Quebec. Her practice covers mediation, litigation, human rights, professional regulation, and employment law, and she advises Canadian, American, and international businesses, non-profits, and individuals in both English and French. Licensed by both the Ontario and Quebec bars, Lai conducts workplace investigations and mediations, and also serves as a Deputy Judge in the Toronto Small Claims Court and as one of three Discrimination and Harassment Counsel under the Law Society of Ontario's program. She earned her LL.B./B.C.L. from McGill University in 1996, was called to the Quebec bar in 1997 and the Ontario bar in 1999, and is fluent in English and French with proficiency in Mandarin, Toisan, and Cantonese. Her honours include the 2026 Law Society Medal and lifetime achievement recognition from the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers.
