Kevin Egan is a personal injury lawyer at Kevin Egan Law in London, Ontario, whose practice extends into what the firm describes as 'Charter Torts,' seeking remedies under the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Kevin Egan's interest in this area began following the 2009 homicide of an inmate at the Elgin Middlesex Detention Centre. Kevin Egan represented the plaintiff in Henebry v. Her Majesty the Queen, the first trial addressing conditions at the Elgin Middlesex Detention Centre, and won damages for a violation of section 12 of the Charter. Kevin Egan also argued Winmill v. Kevin Egan originated and led class actions over conditions at the Elgin-Middlesex Detention Centre that settled for more than $42 million.
