Kene Azie practiced law for 14 years at a national law firm in Nigeria before relocating to Canada, focusing on corporate and commercial litigation involving projects and infrastructure development, corporate finance, energy, criminal law, and election-related matters. He conducted trials and appeals at various Nigerian courts and tribunals, including the Supreme Court of Nigeria, and was an elected official of the University of Nigeria Students Legal Aid Council, providing pro bono services to indigent community members. Kene was also the pioneer secretary of Lawyers Interested in Free and Fair Elections (LIFFE), a non-governmental organization, at its founding in 2009. Before joining Centobin, he articled at a boutique Calgary law firm, gaining exposure to energy and regulatory compliance, construction law, insurance defence, personal injury, and medical negligence defence. He holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Nigeria and a Barrister of Law qualification from the Nigerian Law School in Abuja, and is a member of the Law Society of Alberta, the Canada Bar Association, the Calgary Bar Association, and the Advocates' Society.
