Kelsey Norton was born and raised in Grande Prairie, Alberta and moved to Edmonton in 2007 for post-secondary studies, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology followed by a Juris Doctor, both from the University of Alberta. She was called to the Alberta bar in 2013 and has practised criminal law exclusively since then, appearing before all levels of court in Alberta. During law school she volunteered with the Student Legal Services Criminal Law Project and interned at the Youth Criminal Defence Office, and articled at a criminal defence firm in Edmonton. She received the Alberta Law Foundation Award for Excellence in Low Income Individuals and the Law upon graduation, and belongs to the Criminal Trial Lawyers' Association.
