About Karim

Karim Mawani is trained as a lawyer, mediator, arbitrator, Children's Counsel, Parenting Coordinator, and Collaborative Family lawyer, and applies whichever process best fits the client rather than fitting the client to one process. He holds a law degree from the University of Alberta and completed the Harvard Law School Intensive Mediation and Negotiation courses. He has instructed at the University of Alberta Faculty of Law, the Law Society of Alberta Bar Admissions course, and the Dispute Resolution Institute of Alberta, and has spoken at conferences including the Alberta Environmental Appeal Board's Conference on Dispute Resolution and seminars run by the Strathcona County Community Mediation Society. He is a Registered Family Mediator and Registered Collaborative Family Lawyer, and he draws on his own experience of losing a child to inform his work helping parents through separation and custody disputes.
