About Karen

Karen Mirsky is a criminal lawyer who has practised defence and advocacy for over twenty years, handling complex criminal matters, youth and family-related criminal matters, trafficking, firearms and other Criminal Code offences, along with complainant representation in domestic and sexual assault matters. She uses a trauma-informed approach and represents individuals, organizers and groups involved in protests, direct action and civil disobedience, including advocacy for sex workers, drug-user groups and climate and political activists. She has served as President, Vice President or Director of the BC Civil Liberties Association since 2018 and previously led Pivot Legal Society and PACE Society, and has been featured in national and local media on policing, protest law and civil liberties issues.
