About Jon

Jon Pinkus is a partner at Samfiru Tumarkin LLP working out of the firm's Toronto, Ottawa, and Vancouver offices, representing clients across Ontario and British Columbia in the Labour and Employment Law group. His practice covers wrongful and constructive dismissals, severance negotiations, human rights issues, employment standards, contract negotiations, and workplace discrimination and harassment. He has represented clients before the Ontario Labour Relations Board, the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario, and all levels of court in Ontario, including the Court of Appeal. In Dufault v. Ignace (Township), Jon and the Samfiru Tumarkin team secured more than $157,000 in damages after the Court of Appeal found the termination clause in the client's contract unenforceable, and in Turcotte v. Grenville Management he helped secure 16 months of severance pay following a prolonged pandemic layoff. Before joining Samfiru Tumarkin, Jon worked at a boutique employment law firm in Toronto. Outside the office, he skis, plays guitar, and is a classically trained pianist, having also worked previously as a ski instructor.
