About John

John P. Desjardins is a partner at Regan Desjardins LLP whose practice centres on the investigation, claims handling, and litigation of fraudulent insurance claims. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto in 1982 and a Bachelor of Arts with Honours from the University of Windsor in 1983, then a Bachelor of Laws from Queen's University, Faculty of Law, in 1986. He was called to the Bar in 1988 and became a partner in 1997, and has also been a member of the Bar of Ohio since 1991. Desjardins has tried approximately 44 Superior Court cases and 240 Small Claims Court cases, and has conducted about 3,000 examinations under oath related to suspect insurance claims. He helped form Special Investigations Units for various insurers and has lectured on property claims and special investigations. He is a member of the Defence Research Institute, the Canadian Bar Association, the Ohio State Bar Association, the Metropolitan Toronto Lawyers Association, the Canadian Association of Special Investigation Units, the Canadian Association of Fire Investigators, and the Law Society of Upper Canada.
