John Hemmerling was born and raised in British Columbia. He earned a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of British Columbia in 1987 and his law degree there in 1990, and was called to the Bar of British Columbia in 1991. He practiced civil litigation in Vancouver before relocating to Kelowna in 1998. He has appeared before all levels of court in British Columbia and has conducted numerous complex personal injury trials, including jury trials, developing deep experience with the laws governing personal injury in the province.
