Jim Hayes has worked as a full-time mediator and arbitrator since 2012, after a year as Vice-Chair of the Ontario Labour Relations Board. He was one of three founding partners of the Cavalluzzo law firm in 1983 and represented clients in labour relations matters across Canada for more than thirty years, including appearances before American arbitrators on behalf of the NHLPA. He received the AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell and was named a leading labour lawyer in directories including the Lexpert/American Lawyer Guide, Chambers Global, the Lexpert Canadian Directory, and Best Lawyers in Canada. He is a past Chair of the Labour Law Section of the Canadian Bar Association (Ontario) and has served as a panel arbitrator under numerous collective agreements, including as a member of the Player Agent Arbitration Panel for the Major League Baseball Players Association. He is a member of the National Academy of Arbitrators and the Ontario Labour Management Arbitrators' Association, and a fellow of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers in the United States.
