About Janis

Janis McAfee has practised exclusively in insurance defence for more than thirty years, handling complex personal injury matters and defending civil sexual assault claims brought against religious organizations, schools, and other non-profits, along with brain, spinal cord, and fatal accident cases. She previously acted for ICBC and now defends other Canadian and American auto insurers, including excess carriers, on out-of-province claims and no-fault benefit disputes. Her practice also extends to sport and recreational liability, professional liability claims involving realtors, dentists, insurance brokers, and lawyers, and life and disability matters, including subrogation for disability benefits. She has contributed articles to insurance publications such as the International Insurance Law Review and presented to the Lloyds Market Association. She is recognized by Lexpert as a leading practitioner in commercial insurance litigation and by Best Lawyers in Canada for personal injury litigation and insurance law.
