About Jamie

Jamie Fitzel is the founder of Step By Step Law, a remote-based practice offering unbundled family law services across British Columbia, letting clients choose exactly which parts of their case they want a lawyer to handle. She's a lawyer, notary, and mediator, and previously practised family law, professional discipline, and estates as a partner at a boutique Edmonton firm. She later served as Manager of Legal Education and Information at BC's Justice Education Society, training teams and authoring public legal information content. She earned her JD from the University of Alberta, studying abroad in Madrid, and holds a Bachelor of Arts in linguistics from Universite de Moncton. She's a member of the Law Society of British Columbia (and a former, now-inactive, member of the Law Society of Alberta), and speaks English and French.
