James Alvarez is licensed to practice law in Ontario and Alberta, joining the Ontario bar in 2018 and the Alberta bar in 2022. He completed his articles and practised with a tax boutique in Toronto before managing the tax litigation practice at another Toronto firm. He represents taxpayers in disputes with the Canada Revenue Agency, addressing audits and appearing before the Tax Court of Canada, the Federal Court, the Federal Court of Appeal, the Alberta Court of Justice, and the Alberta Court of King's Bench, with a focus on net worth analyses and unreported income audits. He has completed CPA Canada's In-Depth Tax Program and publishes commentary on tax disputes for the Canadian Tax Foundation.
