J.R. Norman Boudreau has built a strong reputation among First Nations communities, corporate clients, and individuals across Manitoba, in both litigation and negotiation. He is a skilled litigator across the Specific Claims Tribunal, the Federal Court of Canada, and the Court of King's Bench. Originally from Montreal, he obtained a Bachelor of Education at the Collège de Saint-Boniface and graduated Cum Laude from the University of Ottawa's Faculty of Common Law (French Program), before being called to the Bars of Ontario and Manitoba in 1996. His litigation history includes negotiated settlements for the Long Plain First Nation ($32 million) and Fisher River Cree Nation ($15 million), a $2.6 million judgment in Thomas Sophonow v. Government of Manitoba, a $12 million settlement in Bellan v. Crocus Fund (Manitoba's first successful class action), a Federal Court declaration regarding Treaty 1 First Nations and the Kapyong Barracks, and a tax-free status ruling from the Supreme Court of Canada for a group of Indigenous commercial fishers.
