Ib S. Petersen focuses his practice on employment and labour related law. He is a graduate of the University of Aarhus in Denmark, received an M.Sc. (Econ.) from the London School of Economics in 1982, and earned his Juris Doctor from Queen's University Law School in 1987. He was called to the Bar in British Columbia in 1988 and has spent more than 25 years representing both employers and employees in wrongful dismissal disputes, human rights cases, and labour disputes before federal and provincial boards. He has also served on a number of administrative boards and tribunals, including as an arbitrator in collective agreement disputes, a federal adjudicator under the Canada Labour Code since 1997, a member of the B.C. Employment Standards Tribunal from 1997 to 2004, and vice-chair of the British Columbia Mediation and Arbitration Board. Since 1993 he has edited the annual British Columbia Labour and Employment Law Statutes, and from 1991 to 2003 he edited volumes of the Canadian Encyclopedic Digest covering labour and employment law.
