About Hugo

Hugo Patenaude is the founder of Patenaude Taxation + Trust and has more than 30 years of experience in Canadian and cross-border tax and estate planning. Patenaude advises clients on trusts, estates, wills, business succession, corporate reorganizations, and the purchase, sale, and transfer of businesses, and has built expertise in tax planning for both individuals and corporations. Patenaude has taught the taxation of trusts in the Master's in Taxation program at the Université de Sherbrooke for 11 years and, since 2014, has lectured on trust taxation for the Association de planification fiscale et financière. Patenaude has served on the Tax Technical Committee of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners since 2013 and is a frequent conference speaker on trust and estate topics. Patenaude has been recognized as a leading tax and estate planning practitioner by the Canadian legal directories Lexpert and Who's Who Legal (Lexology).
