About Hugo

Hugo Hamelin began his entertainment law practice in 2006 as legal counsel for the Juste pour rire group. In 2008 he joined the Association quebecoise de la production mediatique, where he took part in negotiating collective agreements with artists' associations such as the UDA, ACTRA and SARTEC. From 2013 to 2016 he served as director of legal and business affairs at Datsit Studios, now Sphere Media. He has chaired the board of Grand Poney, an interdisciplinary theatre company, since 2013, serves as secretary on the boards of LA FABRIK and Doc Quebec, and has been vice-president of Kumulus since 2016. He focuses on collective agreements, labour relations and negotiation, and teaches workshops on contracts and labour relations at INIS, alongside a particular interest in film, animation and the performing arts.
