About Hilary

Hilary Warder is the founding and senior counsel at Warder Law, with more than 30 years of experience practising family law primarily in Kingston. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) and a Bachelor of Laws from Queen's University and is pursuing a Master of Laws under the supervision of family law academic Nicholas Bala, with a thesis on shared parenting arrangements in high-conflict separations. She prefers to negotiate resolutions out of court, including through the Collaborative Family Law process, but draws on extensive courtroom experience when a matter is contested. She is also qualified to represent children in family court as an agent for the Children's Lawyer and was appointed a Dispute Resolution Officer in the Ontario Superior Court of Justice (Family Court) in Kingston. She has taught Introduction to Legal Skills at Queen's Law and coached Queen's teams at the Walsh Family Law Negotiation competition. She belongs to the Law Society of Ontario, the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts of Ontario, the Canadian Bar Association, and the Ontario Bar Association's Family Law and Child and Youth Law sections, among other associations.
