About Heather

Heather Malaryk founded Merak Law in 2021 after practicing family law exclusively since shifting from general civil and insurance litigation work at Weir Bowen LLP. She spent time at the Family Law Office of Legal Aid Alberta handling divorce, property division, spousal and child support, parenting matters, and child protection cases, then co-founded Latitude Family Law LLP in 2017, where she was a partner before starting Merak Law. She is a Registered Collaborative Family Lawyer and a mediator, and she is a member of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals and the Collaborative Divorce Alberta Association, as well as a volunteer with Collaborative Divorce Edmonton. She has appeared at all levels of Alberta courts and has handled trials, hearings, special chambers, and judicial dispute resolutions, though her focus remains on out-of-court dispute resolution.
