About Fil

Fil Mendes is a founding partner of Amaral Mendes LLP and an experienced civil litigator. He has acted for both plaintiffs and defendants across Ontario courts and tribunals in matters spanning contract disputes, personal injury, professional malpractice, property disputes, and debt collection, and has developed particular strength in defending claims tied to motor vehicle accidents and claims against municipalities, professionals, and property owners. Fil earned an Honours BA in History from Western University in 2002 and returned to Western for law school, graduating in 2005 before being called to the Ontario bar in 2006. He is fluent in Portuguese and lives in Waterloo, where he volunteers with the Kitchener Public Library's Reading Buddy program and serves as president of the Waterloo Region Portuguese Business and Professionals Association.
