About Douglas Chan

Douglas Chan is the principal lawyer at Chan Law in Waterloo, handling real estate, family law, wills and estates, and corporate and commercial matters for clients across Waterloo Region and nearby Southwestern Ontario towns. Doug's also an appointed Notary Public. What pulled Doug toward law in the first place was wanting to help people with their problems and be someone they could rely on to solve them efficiently.

The early years of Doug's career were spent in Northern Ontario, articling and then working at two civil litigation firms there, and the Ontario Bar call came in 2010. Doug then moved back to Kitchener-Waterloo to raise a family. In Waterloo, Doug became an associate at the Eric M. Kraushaar Law Office around 2017 and, when Eric Kraushaar retired at the end of February 2018, took over that practice's clients and files and continued it as Chan Law.

Waterloo is home ground. A Waterloo native, Doug completed an Honours BA at the University of Waterloo with a specialty in Legal Studies, then went on to law school at Wayne State University in Detroit. Doug knows Waterloo, Kitchener and Cambridge well, and readers of the Waterloo Region Record picked Doug for Gold as Favourite Lawyer in their 2017 awards.
