About Donald

Donald Smetheram is legal counsel at Smetheram & Company, which he founded in 2003. He earned a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of British Columbia in 1987, articled with Coopers & Lybrand, and qualified as a chartered accountant in 1990. He returned to UBC for his law degree, graduating in 1998, articled with Lang Michener, and was called to the bar of British Columbia in 1999. He practised tax and corporate-commercial law at a Vancouver tax boutique firm before founding his own firm, and has represented clients in tax appeals before the Tax Court of Canada, the Supreme Court of British Columbia, and the British Columbia Court of Appeal. He is a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of British Columbia, the Canadian Bar Association, and the Canadian Tax Foundation.
