Insurance LawChris Watson graduated from the UBC Faculty of Law in 2002 and was called to the bar in 2003. He heads MacKenzie Fujisawa's insurance group, acting for multiple insurers on claims disputes, coverage disputes and subrogated proceedings, and his other work includes non-insurance civil and appellate counsel work and administrative law. He has appeared at all levels of court in British Columbia, the Federal Court, the Federal Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada, and served as managing partner of MacKenzie Fujisawa from May 2016 to May 2018. He was counsel in Waterman v. IBM Canada Limited, 2013 SCC 70, a leading wrongful dismissal and pension benefits case, and in Lanfer v Eilers, 2021 BCCA 241, on the enforcement in BC of a foreign judgment relating to land. He is presently Vice-Chair of the Savary Island Land Trust.
