About Carman
Carman J. Overholt, K.C. is the founding senior lawyer at Overholt Law LLP, practising employment law, labour relations law, and commercial litigation for over 34 years. He has appeared before the Supreme Court of British Columbia, the Court of Appeal of BC, the BC Human Rights Tribunal, the Employment Standards Tribunal, the BC Labour Relations Board, the Canadian Industrial Relations Board, and the Workers' Compensation Appeal Tribunal, and has represented employers in labour arbitration and collective bargaining. His litigation work includes the successful defence of a class action brought by 400 employees, which ended with dismissal of an application for leave to appeal to the Supreme Court of Canada. He co-authored the Employment Litigation Manual, published by Butterworths/LexisNexis since 2007, and lectures for the Sauder School of Business and CPHR. Overholt earned his LL.B. from the Faculty of Law at Queen's University in 1984 and an Honours BA in History from Western University in 1981. He was called to the British Columbia bar in 1986, appointed Queen's Counsel in 2002, and is a member of the Law Society of British Columbia and the Canadian Bar Association.
