About Bruce

Bruce Stedman is a family law mediator and lawyer in Ottawa with more than 34 years of experience. He practised family law both inside and outside the courtroom before shifting his focus to mediation, working with separating spouses on parenting and financial issues including child support, spousal support and property division. He believes going to court should be a last resort, working instead toward negotiated settlements that let couples control the outcome of their separation. Bruce earned an Honours BA from the University of Western Ontario in 1981, then attended law school in Ottawa after several years working as a wilderness instructor for at-risk youth. He offers confidential mediation sessions by video and audio, typically resolving matters in two to three sessions.
