About Ava

Ava Chisling has been a member in good standing of the Barreau du Québec since 2007 and holds three degrees from McGill University: a BA, a BCL, and a JD/LLB. Ava trained at Borden Ladner Gervais before building a solo practice, Law and Content, advising clients on intellectual property (copyright and trademark), gaming law, advertising, marketing, privacy, content, licensing, and AI-related transactions. Ava also advises on Quebec privacy compliance, including Law 25, and on Quebec's language laws, including the Charter of the French Language, for clients entering the Quebec market. Ava is the legal advisor for Nurau Inc. and has a background in media, having worked in TV, film, advertising, publishing, and radio, and served as Executive Editor of enRoute, Air Canada's in-flight magazine. Ava has received a National Magazine Award Merit Prize, a Gold Kenneth R. Wilson Award, the Leon Levinson Prize from McGill's Faculty of Law, and a Canada Council Award for writing.
