Aurora C. Fitzgerald was born in Thunder Bay and grew up in small towns across Northern Ontario. She completed her undergraduate degree in political science, with a social justice and peace specialization, at Western University before earning her Juris Doctor at the Bora Laskin Faculty of Law in Thunder Bay. Her law school placement was at the Northwest Community Legal Clinic, where she also worked during the summers through the Law Foundation of Ontario's Access to Justice program. During law school she took specialization courses in elder law, criminal law, environmental and animal law, and legal research and writing, and she co-founded and served as President of the Bora Laskin Faculty of Law Animal Justice Club. Aurora previously spent time teaching in Igloolik, Nunavut, where she drafted successful government funding proposals for after-school programs. Her practice covers criminal law, real estate, wills, corporate/commercial matters, and provincial offences act offences.
