Alanna C. Stephen graduated with Honours from the University of Guelph and attended law school at the University of Windsor and the University of Detroit Mercy, earning both Canadian and American law degrees. Called to the Ontario Bar in 2005, she practised civil litigation and criminal law at a Hamilton firm before moving to real estate and wills and estates. She joined Escarpment Law Group shortly after it was established in 2011 and is the firm's managing partner. She speaks Spanish as a second language.
