About Alain

Alain Hepner K.C. practices criminal defence law exclusively, representing clients across Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and British Columbia. He graduated from the University of Alberta Faculty of Law in 1975, was called to the bar in 1976, and received the designation of Queen's Counsel in 1989, the same year he founded his own practice after working at MacPherson & Associates and Harradence & Company. Hepner is a member of the American College of Trial Lawyers and has appeared before administrative tribunals including the Alberta Review Board. He is retained by the Calgary Police Association to defend officers facing criminal allegations, and previously served as a Bencher for the Law Society of Alberta and on the Board of Directors for Legal Aid Alberta. He was named Criminal Lawyer of the Year in 2020, and his firm was included on a list of Canada's top 10 criminal boutique law firms in 2018.
