About Karrass Law

Karrass Law is the practice of Robert Karrass Professional Corporation, a small litigation firm based in Thornhill, Ontario. The firm is led by Robert Karrass, who was called to the Ontario bar in 2014 after earning a J.D. from Osgoode Hall Law School and winning the Kenneth Gibson Morden Memorial Prize for standing highest in Evidence. Karrass Law handles civil litigation, criminal defence, family law, and administrative and regulatory matters, along with mediation, arbitration, and appeals. The firm's second lawyer, Patricia Virc, focuses on complex family law cases as they pertain to the division of assets and has appeared before every level of court, including the Supreme Court of Canada, over more than two decades of practice.

The firm's administrative law work has a specific niche: representing physicians, veterinarians, chiropractors, and lawyers in complaints and discipline hearings before their regulatory colleges. Karrass previously sat as a presiding lawyer member of Ontario's Consent and Capacity Board from 2015 to 2020 and served as a per diem Crown Attorney in 2019. Before practising law, Karrass trained as a classical pianist, earning a bachelor's degree in piano performance from the Manhattan School of Music and a master's in historical musicology from the Hartt School at the University of Hartford, and still teaches part time as an adjunct professor at George Brown College.
