Josh Azan earned a Juris Doctor and an LL.M. in taxation from the University of Miami in 2014. Before articling under Ivor Levstein and being admitted to the Law Society of Ontario, Azan worked in PwC's Washington, D.C. office, advising on more than $50 billion worth of business and real estate transactions. Alison Rioux holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Miami and an LL.M. in intellectual property from George Washington University, and is a member of both the Law Society of Ontario and the Florida Bar. Earlier work included in house contract negotiation at Royal Caribbean and roles in university technology transfer offices in Florida. Between them, the lawyers bring cross border business and tax experience to a practice that is otherwise centered on Ontario real estate closings, corporate work, and estate planning.

The neighbourhood
The firm's office is in Old Markham Village, the town's nineteenth century downtown along Main Street, rather than the newer Downtown Markham development to the south near Highway 7. The house at 21 Washington Street was built around 1887 as the home of a widow, Sara Crosby, who took in boarders, including some of the village's schoolteachers, to help support the household. In 1905 the property was bought by a lawyer, Arthur Ferrier Wilson, who went on to serve as Reeve of Markham Village in the 1920s and again in 1930, according to the Markham Village Conservancy.
Main Street in the Village still carries many of its nineteenth and early twentieth century storefronts and houses, and the neighbourhood's GO station, itself a restored building dating to the 1870s, carries the largest walk on ridership of any stop on its line, per the Conservancy.
