About Frank Retar

Frank Retar Criminal Law is a sole criminal defence practice in Windsor, Ontario, and has operated there since 2001. Before turning to law, Frank Retar spent close to a decade in manufacturing while completing an undergraduate degree at Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, then studied law at the University of Windsor and Detroit Mercy School of Law. Early practice included time in Thunder Bay working with the late B. Lee Baig, Q.C., and an association in Kitchener with W. Rabley, who later became a justice of the Ontario Court of Justice. The move to Windsor in 2001 marked the start of an independent practice focused entirely on criminal defence.

The practice covers the full range of criminal matters, from assault, theft, and impaired driving to drug offences, sexual offences, and murder charges, along with bail hearings, extradition, and criminal appeals. Frank Retar is qualified under Legal Aid Ontario's panel standards to accept Extremely Serious Criminal Matters and belongs to the Law Society of Ontario, the Criminal Lawyers' Association, the Essex Lawyers Association, and the Chatham Kent Lawyers Association. Fees are usually set on a block basis rather than billed hourly, so clients know what it's likely to cost before the work begins, with payment plans available and Legal Aid certificates accepted.
