Melanie Reist has practised employment law for more than 35 years, and Pamela Krauss is the firm's managing partner. Taylor Maitland and James Schneider are associates. Taylor Maitland's practice covers every area of employment law, with advice and representation for employees and employers on dismissals, human rights, employment agreements, workplace policies and employment standards disputes. James Schneider articled at a local full-service firm before joining Reist Krauss Bauer. Paralegals and administrative staff round out the team.

Several of the lawyers built their experience outside Waterloo Region first. Melanie Reist started out at a well-known Toronto firm on the management side of employment and labour law. Pamela Krauss practised as an associate at a national firm in Toronto and then as in-house counsel at a major Waterloo technology company, which added corporate tax, commercial, intellectual property and information technology law to that background. Maxwell Bauer articled in Toronto with a national employment and labour firm, then advised on employment matters in-house at one of Canada's major financial institutions before returning to Kitchener Waterloo to practise with Morrison Reist Krauss.

In Melanie Reist's experience, acting for both employees and employers builds insight into the issues that matter to each side. The firm's roots run local, too: Maxwell Bauer is a lifelong Waterloo Region resident with deep family connections there, and James Schneider was born and raised in Kitchener.
