Free consultationWadham Law is a Toronto based family law practice run by its founder, Mbaka Wadham, who holds a B.A. (Hons) and an M.A. in sociocultural anthropology together with a J.D. Before entering law, the founder worked in the social services sector, including research on HIV/AIDS and social determinants of health and community development work at an AIDS service organization. That earlier work, which touched on the intersection of family violence, criminality and HIV/AIDS vulnerability, shaped a later decision to concentrate a legal career on family law. The firm serves Toronto and the wider Greater Toronto Area, along with Hamilton, Burlington and Thornhill, meeting clients in person or remotely.
The practice covers family and divorce law, including contested and uncontested divorces, decision-making, parenting time, child support and Section 7 special and extraordinary expenses, and child protection matters. It also handles domestic agreements such as cohabitation agreements, marriage contracts and separation agreements, adoptions (public, private, international and relative), wills and powers of attorney, and notary services. The founder is a trained Collaborative Practitioner and a member of the International Association of Collaborative Practitioners, working toward non-adversarial resolutions where that approach fits a case. Wadham Law accepts Legal Aid certificates and offers both full representation and limited scope retainers.

Legal aidWadham Law's office is inside 1 King Street West, at the corner of King and Yonge in downtown Toronto. The building started out in 1914 as the twelve story head office of the Dominion Bank, designed by the architecture firm Darling and Pearson in the Beaux-Arts style with Renaissance Revival detailing. The Dominion Bank, later Toronto-Dominion Bank, kept a branch there into the 1990s. In 2006 a fifty-one story residential tower was added above the original structure, now known as One King West, while the historic banking hall was preserved. Meeting Wadham Law there means walking into a converted early twentieth century bank building rather than a standard modern office tower.
