The Barristers Group is a small Toronto litigation and legal referral practice run from Suite 2501 at 120 Adelaide Street West by principal lawyer Andrew MacDonald. The firm says it has more than 20 years of courtroom experience and describes itself as multi-disciplinary, drawing on an international referral network for matters outside its own scope. It's built around civil litigation rather than one narrow specialty, with work in employment disputes, breach of contract and tort claims, injunctions, shareholder and director disputes, defamation, administrative law, estates, tax, bankruptcy, class actions, and cross border enforcement.

The firm says it has taken matters through trial, the Ontario Court of Appeal, and the Supreme Court of Canada. One of its more publicized files involved a client who sued the Toronto Police Services Board over a carding and assault incident; a panel of Divisional Court judges increased the damages award from $27,000 to $80,000 on appeal in 2017, and MacDonald discussed the underlying case on CBC Radio's Metro Morning. MacDonald has also written for the firm's site about how a poorly worded employment contract can quietly strip away a worker's common law right to reasonable notice on termination.
