About Teichert Family Law

Teichert Family Law is a solo family law practice based in Toronto, run by Tyler Teichert from an office at 340 King Street East. Teichert was called to the Ontario bar in 2015 and has practiced exclusively in family law since, after training at smaller family law firms in the Greater Toronto Area. The firm handles divorce and separation, parenting arrangements, child and spousal support, property division, and relocation matters, along with cohabitation agreements and marriage contracts, and it also offers unbundled services for clients who need help with only part of their case.

Teichert's interest in family law took shape in the first year of law school at Western University, where a placement with Pro Bono Students Canada's Family Law Project involved drafting court documents for self-represented litigants; that work led to a stint as the project's program coordinator. Before law school, Teichert earned a bachelor's degree in geography from the University of Waterloo and was a professional horse trainer, competing at the national level in Canada and the United States.

The practice favours negotiation and alternative dispute resolution, such as mediation and arbitration, as a first step, and turns to litigation only when a matter cannot be resolved another way.
