About SpringLaw

SpringLaw is a virtual, paperless employment and labour law firm based in Toronto, with an office at 111 Queen Street East. Founder Lisa Stam launched the firm on April 9, 2017, after three years at smaller, union side firms, seven years at Baker McKenzie advising global employers, and a stint as a co-founding partner of a specialty employment law firm starting in 2014. Stam earned a law degree from Dalhousie Law School and an honours degree in medieval history from the University of Toronto, and is licensed by the Law Society of Ontario.

The firm now has about ten lawyers who work by video, phone, and email rather than in person, a structure the firm says lets it work with employers well beyond downtown Toronto. On the employer side, SpringLaw drafts employment contracts and workplace policies, runs compliance audits, and manages a subscription program built for small and medium sized Ontario employers. It also represents individual employees directly, offering both limited scope help, such as a single contract review, and full scope representation through a termination dispute. Of counsel lawyer Vincent Hoss-Desmarais, a member of the Quebec Bar since 2001, extends the firm's reach into bilingual and Quebec employment matters.
