About Spectrum Law

Spectrum Law is a small Toronto firm that works exclusively in tax and estate planning, serving private business owners and higher income individuals from an office at 383 Adelaide Street East. The firm helps clients minimize tax through corporate reorganizations, family trusts, wills, and estate administration, and represents them in disputes with the Canada Revenue Agency, including voluntary disclosures, audits, taxpayer relief applications, and objections to reassessments.

Managing Partner Nathan Wright has practiced tax law in Toronto since being called to the Ontario Bar in 2006. Wright holds a Master of Taxation from the University of Waterloo and the Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP) and Certified Executor Advisor (CEA) designations, both focused on estate and trust work. Partner Ian Iatzko, called to the Ontario Bar in 2014 after a J.D. from Queen's University, concentrates on taxpayer dispute resolution for individuals and small businesses. When a client needs criminal, regulatory, or civil litigation counsel outside Spectrum's own tax and estate practice, the firm works alongside Brauti Thorning LLP, an independent Toronto firm practicing in association with Spectrum Law.

Frequently asked questions

Does Spectrum Law work with individuals, or only business owners?
Both. Most of Spectrum Law's work involves private business owners, but the firm also handles personal tax planning, wills, and estate administration for individual higher income earners.
I received a Notice of Reassessment from the CRA. Can Spectrum Law help?
Yes. The firm's tax dispute practice covers filing a Notice of Objection, responding to a CRA audit, and applying for taxpayer relief on penalties and interest.
I have unreported income from past years. Does Spectrum Law handle voluntary disclosures?
Yes. The firm works with clients through the CRA's Voluntary Disclosures Program to bring unreported income, unremitted GST or HST, or offshore assets onside before the CRA discovers them independently.
Can Spectrum Law prepare my will as part of my tax plan?
Yes. Wills and estate administration are handled as part of the same tax and estate planning practice rather than as a separate service.
Does Spectrum Law offer a free consultation?
Yes. Prospective clients can book a free consultation through the firm's website and describe the tax issue they're dealing with, such as an audit, a collections matter, or a disputed assessment.
Does Spectrum Law represent clients in criminal, family, or personal injury cases?
Not directly. Spectrum Law's own lawyers focus on tax and estate planning. For criminal law, regulatory, and civil litigation matters, the firm works alongside Brauti Thorning LLP, an independent firm practicing in association with Spectrum Law.
