Solmon Rothbart Tourgis Slodovnick LLP (SRTS) is a litigation firm at 375 University Avenue in downtown Toronto. The practice grew out of a solo practice built by founding partner Melvyn L. Solmon, who represented clients in financial difficulty against banks and other large institutions and built a reputation for creative, practical solutions to those disputes. Solmon earned a Master of Laws from Harvard University in 1974, clerked at the Supreme Court of Canada with Justice Spence that same year, and was called to the Ontario bar in 1976 and the New York bar in 2003. The firm's own site credits Solmon with lead counsel work in excess of 800 reported decisions.
The firm once practised as Solmon Rothbart Goodman LLP before taking its current four name partner structure. Today SRTS focuses on corporate and commercial litigation, banking and mortgage disputes, employment litigation, bankruptcy and insolvency matters, estate litigation, professional negligence claims, and class actions, and it also runs an active class action practice with cases that have gone through certification and mediation before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice. Its nine lawyers appear at all levels of Ontario court as well as in arbitration and mediation, and between them the team can work in Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu, Arabic and Chinese in addition to English.

By appointmentSRTS's office is at 375 University Avenue, on a stretch of downtown Toronto built around the province's court system. The Ontario Superior Court of Justice runs several buildings along the same avenue, including civil courtrooms at 330 and 393 University Avenue and the criminal and family courthouse at 361 University Avenue. For a firm built on litigation, from banking and mortgage disputes to employment claims and class actions, an office within walking distance of the courts where those cases are argued is a practical fit rather than a coincidence.
