Scher Law Professional Corporation is a law firm dedicated to the practice of civil litigation, based in downtown Toronto, at Yonge and Bloor. Hugh Scher founded the firm and has practiced for more than 25 years, concentrating on employment and labour law, human rights, and disability insurance litigation. Scher has appeared at all levels of court and tribunal across Canada, including multiple appearances before the Supreme Court of Canada, in cases such as Keays v. Honda on damages for bad faith dismissal, Rasouli v. Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre on consent to withdraw life support, and Carter v. Canada on assisted dying. Jennifer Norman, a senior associate, brings more than 20 years in employment, labour, human rights, and administrative law, including prior work in the public service. Alongside the Toronto office, the firm keeps a by appointment location in Ottawa for matters in the National Capital Region.
