Ryley Law is a solo employment, human rights, and administrative law practice in Toronto, founded by Bay Ryley. Ryley was called to the Ontario bar in 2001 after an LL.B. from Dalhousie Law School and a B.A. and M.A. in History from Queen's University, and articled at Borden Ladner Gervais LLP. Before opening the firm, Ryley worked as counsel at the Human Rights Legal Support Centre, the Ontario Human Rights Commission, the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, and the Constitutional Law Branch of Ontario's Ministry of the Attorney General, and did advocacy and policy work on two public inquiries, the MFP/Computer Leasing Inquiry and the Walkerton (Tainted Water) Inquiry.
The practice now represents both employees and employers in wrongful dismissal, workplace harassment, and human rights disputes before the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario and in court, and it's added newer work under Canada's Safe Sport program, representing reporters and respondents in complaints under the Universal Code of Conduct to Prevent and Address Maltreatment in Sport. Ryley is also President of Ryley Learning, a separate eLearning company that builds workplace anti-harassment, anti-racism, and DEI training courses, some of which carry continuing professional development accreditation for lawyers, insurance brokers, and HR professionals.
