Robinsons Law is a small estate planning and administration firm in downtown Toronto. Pat Robinson founded the firm on January 1, 2016, after practising as a partner at Goodmans LLP, and it now has four lawyers who work exclusively on family wealth management, succession planning, and estate administration. The practice covers three areas: estate planning and personal tax, including business transition and succession planning, cross-border planning, cottage succession planning, and charitable giving; estate administration, including preparing accounts for estates and trusts, distributing assets, and advising estate trustees; and a Charities and Not For Profit practice that serves hospitals, educational and research organizations, and cultural and religious organizations.
The team includes partner Hilary Van de Kamer, a Western University law graduate called to the Ontario bar in 2014, and associates Ashley Seely, who has an estate litigation background, and Carolyna Lopez, who previously worked at a general practice firm in Hamilton. Robinsons Law was named a Toronto Region Tier 1 firm in the 2026 edition of Best Law Firms Canada, its second consecutive year at that tier, and Robinson has been recognized in The Best Lawyers in Canada for trusts and estates every year since 2008.
Wheelchair accessibleRobinsons Law's office is at 36 Toronto Street, a heritage designated building also known as the Excelsior Life Building, completed in 1914 to a design by architect Edward James Lennox. Part of the building's heritage value comes from Toronto Street's history as a corporate and financial hub in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, a fitting backdrop for a practice built around family wealth and tax planning. The firm's own entrance is at the corner of Adelaide Street and Toronto Street.
