Virtual appointmentsRideout Law is a small litigation and mediation firm with an office in the Exchange Tower on King Street West in downtown Toronto, plus a second office in Edmonton. Brett Rideout established the firm in 2022 to concentrate on the insurance and commercial litigation work that matters most to the practice and its clients. The firm's focus is property and subrogation recovery, insurance coverage analysis, and casualty defence, with particular attention to public and school board liability, construction defects, occupier's liability, and professional services errors and omissions claims. Rideout Law serves clients across Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta.
Rideout brings over 20 years of experience litigating large losses and complex property subrogation claims for property and casualty insurers, and spent a decade, from 2005 to 2015, as the Canadian Chapter Chair of the National Association of Subrogation Professionals. The firm's litigation work has touched major losses such as the Sunrise Propane explosion, the Downsview stage collapse, and the Algoma Mall collapse in Elliot Lake. Associate Stefan Jakovljevic practises alongside Rideout, with a focus on insurance litigation, subrogation recovery, and casualty defence. Rideout also mediates disputes, trained under the Harvard Mediation Certification Model and a member in good standing of the ADR Institute of Ontario and the ADR Institute of Canada, with a mediation focus on complex property claims, construction losses, and professional negligence.

In-person servicesThe Toronto office is in the Exchange Tower at 130 King Street West, at the corner of King and York Streets in the heart of the city's Financial District. The 36 storey tower, completed in 1981, takes its name from the Toronto Stock Exchange, its most prominent tenant, and connects into Toronto's underground PATH system along with the neighbouring office towers. It's a fitting downtown perch for a firm whose practice runs through insurance and commercial litigation.
The firm's second office is in First Edmonton Place on Jasper Avenue, giving Rideout Law an Alberta base alongside its Toronto office for the litigation and mediation work it takes on across Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta.
